A healthy clean gut = A healthier me

It wasn’t until I started my holistic journey that I began to learn about my body. Listening to those who had walked the path before me, gave me a real insight into what my body really needed to function correctly. I was just about to descend upon a whole new world.

A blocked sluggish digestive system causes my body so much stress. It makes me want to curl up in a corner, avoiding any human contact indefinitely.

Believe me I am no angel, falling off the wagon, introducing white processed, refined foods, does happen in my world, however it affects my mental heath and overall well being so much that it really isn’t worth it. Not for long anyway!

For me, sugar is the toughest ingredient to give up 100%. Oh how I  try. Everyday I try.

The thing is I never eat just bad, as in, foods that upset my digestive tract. In fact my diet is pretty strict. Each morning whilst the kettle is boiling, I gather all my organic supplements, and one by one, down the hatch they go.

Organic Ashwaghanda, Selenium, Super B Complex, K2D3 Magnesium, Niacin, 1000mg Liposomal Vitamin C, 750mg or 1500mg Hempworx CBD Oil (5 – 10 drops), 2% Lugols Iodoine (2-4 drops),  and Apple Cider Vinegar in a large glass of filtered water.

Followed by either a…

Carrot, Root turmeric, Root ginger & Green apple, normally a Granny Smith, or a…

Beetroot, Pear, Ginger, Turmeric, & Black pepper juice,  to boost my energy levels and immune system.

Or one of my Dry Mix Smoothie…

Organic Pumpkin seed, Chai seed, Sunflower seed, Hemp seed, Dandelion root/leaf, Milk thistle, Dates, Raspberry leaf, Black pepper, Linseed, Turmeric, Cinnamon, Spirulina and sometimes Cranberries, Seaweed, and Mango.

All this goodness doesn’t stop me reaching out for a chocolate bar, but it’s about how I deal with that craving that matters. Sometimes I think do you know what, that KitKat is going straight in my gob, and God help anyone who gets in my way. Other times I try to imitate a healthy version of something indulgent, or if I can tell my head to jog on and listen to my gut, I grab an apple or some soup that may be left over from the night before.

I love a good soup….This is butternut squash & tomato., served with sourdough…It’s delicious!!!

Simply roast a few celery leaves, half of one onion, 4 cloves of garlic, chopped up butternut squash, tomatoes, drizzled in organic olive oil, and seasoned with Himalayan pink rock salt & black  pepper, until soft. Add the vegetables to a pan containing boiled filtered water, and add a teaspoonful of organic ground turmeric. Blitz with a hand blender in the pan or transfer to a nutri bullet, and serve.

A perfect nutritional winter warmer….Soooooo good!!!

You know the devil and the angel scenario, well I get more of the devil and the devil!!!!!

“Go on eat that chocolate bar!” Like an idiot I listen ha ha ha, then I punish myself for it, gorging on more processed foods or juicing everything that is within reach of the juicer.

I am the devil, I make the choice, I am responsible for what I eat.

No matter how good that cream cake, that chocolate bar or that can of fizzy pop may taste, continual consumption will eventually take it’s toll, somewhere in the body. DO NOT wait to get ill. We only have one digestive system, nurture it, feed it good gut health, listen to your body, your gut, not your head!

If we didn’t have treats and indulge now and again, for me, it would be just existing. So have a piece of cake, have a glass of wine, eat those chocolate buttons in the fridge, whatever you choose, just be aware of what you are eating.

Keeping a diary can help you to see what you are eating on a daily basis, it is also a good way to track any trigger foods, that may cause headaches, aches, tiredness, fatigue, lazy colon, moods, sweats, skin conditions etc.

Like the old saying goes “We are what we eat” It is so true….

An alkaline diet, supplements, and a positive attitude are good for…

  1. My well being
  2. My digestive system
  3. My mood
  4. My mental health
  5. My skin/Hair/Nails
  6. My marriage
  7. My cognitive function
  8. My memory
  9. My outlook on life
  10. My gut

The fact that I no longer have to rely on any conventional medication or anti-depressants, is a huge achievement.

It isn’t easy but once I got in to the swing of things, changing the way I feel and think about food, has become the norm.

Little steps can make such an impact on your lifestyle…..Be kind to yourself

One love x
