I saw a video of Jace on Twitter and had to comment. He is one to watch out for, at only 16 years of age this Salford lad has talent, great rawness to his voice.
Hiya, my name is Jace Campbell I’m a 16 year old singer songwriter from Salford. It’s great living in salford due to its history and notable people and even living next to Manchester, I can see the manchester city centre from my bedroom window! When I was 8 years old, I asked my dad to show me a few chords on the guitar, he used to play guitar and is a big music lover, he used to play oasis, band of horses and stereophonics around the house when I was growing up, anyway, he shown me 4 basic chords D, G, C, E but I found it too hard it and my fingers hurt so I packed it in! Haha. Anyway, a few years passed by and I started hearing music, also growing up next to Manchester I started hearing all the Manchester music, Oasis, The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, The Charlatans ETC. And I thought I would like to give the guitar another try, my dad shown me the 4 chords again and gave me an Oasis Chordbook from the 90s and I learned from there. This was around October 2016 and then in the January of 2017 I wrote my first song (which was a rip off of the Oasis B-side Rockin’ Chair, Sorry Noel) and then one followed another and then I started gigging performing my own songs and covers. At the time, My love for the band Oasis was massive and they was my favourite band, but with wise words from my dad he encouraged me to listen to other things and not be frightened to have a diverse music taste, so I started listening to, with his influence, Neil young, Band Of Horses, Stereophonics, Prince. On my own I discovered bands such as the Jam, The Beatles, The Smith’s and New Order. My favourite Genre of Music is Indie and Guitar music, however, I am very open minded an will listen to anything, I am into anything from the 80s to hip hop to dance to country. My heroes in the music business are people such as Neil Young, Richard Ashcroft, Paul Weller, Noel Gallagher, Liam Gallagher, Johnny Marr and even people from my own town such as Bernard Sumner and Peter Hook. I’ve been in the studio recently with Twisted Wheel’s (check out) Drummer recording my own original songs, so Expect New Music Soon. Follow me on Twitter @jacecampbell03
