In 2019, in my quest to be healed from lupus, I came across the Microbiome Diet, and how yourself from autoimmune illnesses through fermented foods and prebiotics.

Fermented foods yield natural probiotics. Probiotics are the friendly bacteria in the gut that are responsible for our immune systems and how they function. I decided to start a hobby in ferments. I read that home-made fermented feeds are much healthier than those found in food stores.

At the time in South Africa, the most easily accessible cultures for ferments were kombucha tea and milk kefir. I purchased it and began my journey with fermented drinks. For the first 3 months, I would diligently drink kombucha tea and raw milk kefir every morning on an empty stomach and for breakfast, I had a bowl of oats. I noticed an almost immediate difference in my appetite. I no longer had sugar cravings, and my food portions began to shrink. A few short months down the line I felt healthier, more energized, my mood was lifted like never before and, I realized that I had melted off 15 kg of unwanted fat that my body had been carrying around for more than a decade. I weighed 80 and after 3 months I weighed 65. I continued steadfastly with my probiotic diet. A few more months later I dropped another 6 kg and weighed 59kg (I still do 2 years later). My skin looked healthier, the under-eye circles became lighter, my hair was healthier and grew faster, and I had so much less pain in my body than before. I could literally feel my body transforming from a bad state to a good state as I focused on populating my gut with good bacteria (probiotics) through kombucha and milk kefir, and feeding my good pets with prebiotics – their only food source.

Somewhere down the line, I came across the debate that not all kombucha cultures contain bacteria and yeasts that are classified as probiotics. I wanted to ensure that my body was getting a probiotic kombucha and not just any type of mediocre kombucha.

Through extensive research, I learned how to grow my kombucha cultures into a probiotic packed signature Kombucha tea with tremendous potential health benefits.

 

In 2020 I went for tests and discovered that the lupus had disappeared and left my body without a trace. I decided that I needed to share my transformation with the world and turned my best-loved hobby into a business.

Today this business is called, Kanbucha – live probiotic beverages. Our KhoiSan signature kombucha tea range is brewed with Rooibos tea, black tea, green tea, and a variety of beneficial, fruits, herbs, and spices. Our milk kefir is raw and unpasteurized cultured dairy milk.

Kanbucha drinks in combination with a high prebiotic diet, helped me to heal completely from lupus sle, IBS, chronic bronchitis, anxiety and depression, leaky gut, arthritis, fibromyalgia, fatigue, endometriosis, insomnia, cell toxicity and the list goes on.

My life has turned “how long before I die?” into an exciting journey of “ how many more can I help to live?”. Many of our client’s lives have been transformed by our raw, signature kombucha and raw milk kefir.  By creating awareness of microbiome health, I hope to help others to be healed as I am so that they can live healthier and more fulfilled lives. This is my quest now that I am healed.

    Good evening my son is. 6 years old with a leaky gut and is still wearing pull ups can you please provide me with more information and if its safe for my son to drink this tea i would really appreciate it
