I truly believe you are what you eat. I know that I am definitely what I eat! Food is my medicine but, it can also be my illness. Sticking to an Alkaline Diet, avoiding all those toxic foods you have been eating since you care to remember, is not always that simple, I struggle at times to maintain such a strict regime, as you will soon find out…..

I thought I had a pretty healthy lifestyle before I had my cancer diagnosis. My downfall was cheese. The stronger the better. As a child, Mum would make me cheese & crackers each night for  my supper. The cheese board was always a centrepiece at any family gatherings, that and a, good bottle of red. Not anymore though!  In fact unless I am having an off day, which may include me stealing half of hubby’s pizza, I no longer consume the stuff. I have tried to force a piece of strong Mature Cheddar in my gob but, my brain says no, making me feel nauseous.

Food is my medicine…

It is no secret that I suffer with Mental Health however, I have learned that eating clean has a very positive effect on my mood. This isn’t always consistent. As I say on my live videos, “I am only human!” Don’t get me wrong my diet is very good everyday, it’s just that some days, something small can trigger my anxiety and my love for sugar and all things bad return with a vengeance. This is when discipline is required.

I have to tell myself  over & over again…

“I have eaten you many times, and each time you make me feel like shit, so I am not eating you!”

This normally works however, if not, then I am faced with the aftermath of feeling claustrophobic, anxious, sad, paranoid, lethargic, bad tempered and unmotivated, just for feeding that toxic craving.

Too much sugar causes a build up of yeast in the body causing “Candida”, if this occurs I book in for Colonic Hydrotherapy to cleanse my colon and jump straight back on to juicing. This is rare and extreme but has been known to happen a few times along the way.

My supplements…

Each morning is very regimented, priority is always a cup of refreshing Organic Rooibos Tea, brought to my bedside with a smile and a kiss, courtesy of my best friend Alex, my husband.

Once I am up and about, on goes the kettle for brew number two, whilst waiting for that to boil, I gather up all my holistic medication, all organic, and begin my daily routine.

A glass of filtered water with a couple of drops of Lugols 2% Iodine. Selenium. Ashwaganda. Super B Complex. K2 D3 Magnesium. 1000mg Liposomal Vitamin C. Hempworx 750mg or 1500mg CBD Oil. Apple Cider Vinegar with Mother. Colloidal Silver. Coral Calcium Shield Spray. Cognizin and Sensoril Brain Spray. E Cell Spray. Ultra CZ Vitamin C and Zinc Spray.

I often wonder…How I would actually feel if I didn’t take the supplements every day….

Sadly I will never know as, NOT taking them isn’t an option!

My love for juicing…

I like to juice enough for a few days ahead, so when I open the fridge I can just grab and go, instead of standing contemplating chocolate. This tends to keep me on track, well almost.

LIVER CLEANSE

Raw Beetroot, Pear, Root Turmeric, Root Ginger with Black Pepper and topped up with ice cold filtered water.

ENERGY BOOST

Green Apple preferably Granny Smith, Root Turmeric, Black Pepper, Root Ginger, Carrot and topped up with ice cold filtered water.

How much should you juice? This is entirely up to you. For me personally I cannot go a day without juicing. Seek Professional advice if you are juicing for a life threatening illness. (I am very blessed to have Holistic Therapists on hand to advise me daily.)

Research suggests that “Disease” cannot live in an Alkaline Body.

Foods to avoid to keep alkaline….

NO Sugar – ( Sugar feeds Cancer). To bake I use Xylitol but NEVER GIVE IT TO THE DOG!!!  Agave Nectar or Coconut Sugar as a substitute.

NO Tap Water – Filtered or Distilled

NO Dairy – Almond, Hemp or Coconut Milk

NO Alcohol – I prefer Tea anyway

NO Gluten or MSG – So avoid packet foods/Takeaways

NO Wheat – Organic Chickpea Sourdough is one of my favourites

NO Sweets or Desserts that contain Refined Sugar (Remember anything refined has been tampered with!!!)

Also….

Avoid Toxic Cleaning Products, Plug in Air Fresheners, Scented Candles, basically anything that is NOT Eco Friendly…I use Ecover products for our home.

Skincare…

An Organic Soap Bar instead of Shower Gel ( Reduces Plastic waste too)

I often make my own Organic Magnesium Bath Soaks & Sugar Face/Body Scrubs. It is so much kinder to the skin and, they contain no toxic ingredients.
