I am a big believer, that if something is meant to be, then it will happen…

Some time ago whilst reaching out, looking for inspirational stories. I came across a beautiful soul, called, Amy. I asked her if she would like to write a guest blog for my page. With one thing and another we ended up losing touch, that is until recently, when out of the blue I receive a beautiful email from Amy.  She told me how she had felt the need to reach out and reconnect with me. Amy described it as an intuition, something she had to follow through…..

And now, here I am, introducing Amy & her inspirational blog!!! Enjoy

These are undoubtedly challenging times.  So, how can we feel more balanced and inspired and maintain a sense of wellbeing? Given the changes and uncertainty we are currently facing, maintaining our wellbeing is challenging, yet it is increasingly essential to how well we are able to adapt to a rapidly changing world. Serving others is an ingredient that can support the cultivation of our wellbeing, bringing us closer to calmness and health. We often hear this word “wellbeing” but what is wellbeing?  How can we continue to live well? Research indicates that wellbeing is an inseparable connection between the mind, body and psyche, so in caring for each of these dimensions of ourselves we encourage an inner state of vitality and health. Our wellbeing is enhanced when we act in service,  as it is an expression of love.  Working to benefit another is part of a recipe that invites us to enrich our lives and grow in wellbeing.  It shines a light, illuminating the wonderful capacities of co-operation, kindness and generosity which, though often overlooked are abundant in humanity .

When we compassionately support someone else and co-operate with one another it helps us to develop a sense of satisfaction and personal meaning. It is likely that we have all felt that beautiful warm feeling, gently washing over us when we help another or act in kindness. A source of joy seems to blossom inside that can be re-visited time and again, like retreating to a sanctuary for nourishment. Both the person who helps and the helped benefit as our connection to ourselves, each other and the world deepens.  There is also a tendency for us not to focus on our own problems  when we are serving someone else and in the process we are able to transcend them . Personal difficulties are often intensified by external stress factors, such as fear and uncertainty, which we are experiencing. So, what is it about supporting one another that can help us manage fear and maintain our health and wellbeing?

In an act of love that goes beyond ourselves, there is a shared moment of commonality and of goodness that can bring us together and prevent  separation .  Though perhaps we are in isolation, or have physical distance between us, we are still able to reach out to one another with gestures from our homes or in this new normality we can in person, offer a hand of support to our neighbours. It could be something as simple as the gift of a smile, a conversation,  for us to be available and kind to all those around us including those that we don´t know. Small gestures will do, as it is kindness itself that elevates our experience of life and supports us to live well.  Helping others, being there for one another and remembering that we are all connected by  shared experiences lightens our lives, nurtures wellbeing and  allows our communities to come together to create a healthier and brighter future for themselves and the world.
