If the above comment by Hippocrates is correct, then surely it makes total sense that we look after our gut!!!

How many of us actually do care about what we are putting in to our digestive system?

I used to think I had a decent balanced diet until I became alkaline. Leaving behind a lifetime of processed foods, refined sugar, caffeine, dairy, and cutting down on meat and alcohol, has improved my health so much.

What I now call “Trigger” foods, have been replaced with, dairy free milk alternatives (Not Soy or Soya), raw organic vegetables, juices, smoothies packed with seeds, spices and leaves, rooibos tea, filtered water, organic supplements, CBD oil, fruit, legumes, and plants.

 

All those trips to the doctor, stocking up on pills, reviewing my repeat prescriptions, are no longer. Food is now my medicine!!! I never imagined in a million years that I would be sharing my knowledge and experiences with strangers. I had resorted to the fact, that conventional medication would be my best friend forever.

Cutting out dairy was easy for me, apart from cheese, that was the toughest one, especially the blue cheese. I no longer eat it,  but now and again a little craving rears it’s ugly head, however instead of surrendering to the devil inside, I try to assess what it is I think my body actually needs, and why it is craving cheese. What ingredient in cheese am I really wanting? As for butter and milk, I never liked them anyway and yoghurts, well I can take or leave those.

There are lots of great alternatives out there to try… I like the Good Hemp Barista Milk, or Alpro non dairy.

As my holistic journey progresses and my knowledge widens, the relationship between myself and my body becomes more understanding.  I believe this is to do with the gut being clean, enabling it to function correctly.

I highly recommend you try an alkaline diet or just start by removing some “Trigger foods”, and let me know how you get on.
